This class is great if you are new to Harry Potter, are an enthusiast, or are just curious about all the hype around Harry Potter. All crafts and activities will focus on the first 3 Harry Potter books/movies: The Sorcerer's Stone, The Chamber of Secrets, and The Prisoner of Azkaban. (If a student has read or seen beyond this, I just ask not to give any spoilers away if possible.) Some crafts we will be doing include creating house-themed bookmarks, making our own magical wands, "planting" mandrakes, designing and painting dragon eggs, making a book of monsters, creating our own potions, making ornaments, and more. *Students need to be able to follow instructions and clean up their own messes. * Some crafts will also include using a hot glue gun. I or the TA will be able to help if a student does not feel confident using one.

Class Description: This term, Imagine, Create, Play! will have an American Girl Doll theme. This class is open to both boys and girls, as we will be creating things for the 18" doll size, so stuffed animals, superheroes, etc in similar sizes are welcome! We will create our own creative profile of our dolls and backstory for them (like some of the historical AG doll books that come with the dolls), clothing/costume, accessories, and other fun things!
Imagine, Create, Play! is just as it is titled! Each week we will have a theme for the kids to use their imagination to create, using various materials, and then play with their classmates with their creations. We will include learning about improvisation, creating characters, setting a scene, and creative storytelling, using props and our imaginations to guide us through the fun! The fun is in the creative process, so even repeat class participants will get to build off of their experiences from the other terms as well.

In this class, we'll use our bodies and minds to explore this art form using a variety of exercises that stretch our capabilities in often silly ways. In this class we will discuss common assumptions and myths about piracy alongside a sampling of history's most famous openly female pirates. Queens and paupers alike have turned to piracy throughout history. We will look as far back as ancient history, through the golden age of pirates, and into the 19th century. Note to Caregivers: We will be learning about real pirates. We will not be going into every gruesome detail but the subject matter does include mortality and violence.
